Phospho-seq Enables Single-Cell Protein Dynamics Profiling
Nature Communications 2020 Research Team
Research Overview
Understanding cell signaling requires measuring protein phosphorylation, but this has been impossible at single-cell resolution - until now. Phospho-seq simultaneously quantifies phosphorylated proteins alongside gene expression in individual cells.
The method was validated using heterogeneous retinal organoids generated with 3D Petri Dish®.
How 3D Petri Dish® Enabled This Research
Implications
Phospho-seq will transform drug discovery by revealing how drugs affect signaling pathways at the single-cell level in complex tissues.
Key Discoveries
- First method to measure phosphoproteins at single-cell resolution
- Integrates with standard single-cell RNA-seq workflows
- Reveals cell-type-specific signaling pathway activation
